Reality Romance Is Dead: Before ‘Jon & Kate,’ There Was Jessica And Nick

In case you live under a boulder, Jon and Kate Gosselin of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8” are splitting up. The Gosselin divorce, after 10 years of marriage and eight kids, is nothing new in the world of reality TV, where romances have crumbled on — and off — camera. Here’s a look at some other notable breakups:

Full Story

overview

Growing up in Texas, Jessica knew exactly what she wanted out of life. Every time she saw someone on stage singing she knew that she wanted to be up there in the spotlight.

Jessica grew up in a conservative Christian family – her father was a pastor — and was even headed in the direction of becoming a Christian singing star. Before her first Christian music album could be released, the label folded. Her Christian roots didn’t fail her though. She got her first major record contract after she performed “Amazing Grace” a cappella for the CEO of Columbia Records. The utterly wholesome Jessica was well on her way.

Although she’s had tremendous success with her singing career, she’s also branched out into reality television in 2003 with her ex-husband Nick Lachey, formerly of the band “98 Degrees.” And she’s made the transition to the big screen too, slipping into the ultra short shorts to become Daisy Duke in “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
