LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Sherri Shepherd has revealed to Access Hollywood that she’s still in the running to fill the final co-host seat on “The View.”

“We’re still in talks so hopefully you’ll see me there in that chair September,” said Shepherd from the set of ABC’s new game show, “Wanna Bet?”

The actress and comedienne is serving as a celebrity judge for one episode of the show, in which people submit crazy stunts that they claim to be able to do. Shepherd and the other celebrity judges bet money on the challengers’ odds of failing or succeeding at their stunts.

“As a matter of fact, ‘The View’ is my charity that I’m playing for. I’m playing for the ‘Barbara Walters give me a job foundation fund,’” Shepherd joked.

The former “Less Than Perfect” star has been a supposed frontrunner to fill one of the show’s vacant seats left by Star Jones-Reynolds and Rosie O’Donnell, but she was nowhere to be found when Whoopi Goldberg was announced as a new co-host last week.

Shepherd, who has been a guest host on the daytime talk show numerous times in the past, has reportedly been unable to work out a deal with ABC for a permanent position.

A report by In Touch Weekly last week claimed that Shepherd was asking for a salary of $2,000,000 — the same amount “insiders” say Whoopi Goldberg is receiving.

While the exact nature of Shepherd’s talks with “The View” is unknown, one thing’s for sure: she plays to win.

“My theory and my philosophy is I’m going to be as aggressive as I can, and try to win this and get my charity some money,” she said of the game-show gig.

And if she doesn’t win?

“If not, you will see me on ‘The View,’” she remarked, getting one more jest in before she started the game:

“I’m not working, I’m homeless.”
