NEW YORK, NY --

With her pop star days behind her, Victoria Beckham is making a bold leap into the fashion world next week, by launching her fist couture collection at New York Fashion Week.

Posh gave Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) an advance look at the latest and most high-end part of her dVb brand, which she will be showing by appointment to buyers in the coming days. According to WWD, the 10-look collection is made up of dresses inspired by women of the past.

“The collection was inspired by the femininity and sophistication of the midcentury silhouette,” Posh told WWD. “I’ve always been drawn to intricate, seam-detailed designs, as their structure enhances the flattering shape of a woman’s silhouette.”

The dresses reflect the tailored, crisp and shapely styles fans have seen her sport at premieres, parties and events, judging by images, which have surfaced of her new designs. Acording to WWD, they were made using basket-weave cotton, gazar and georgette silks.

“I like to focus on the posture of a woman and how she holds herself, which led me to incorporate features such as modern corsetry and grosgrain details,” she told the publication.

Posh’s line is currently wholesale priced between $600 and $1400 per garment.

Though she is not having a runway show at NY Fashion Week, it has nothing to do with rumors she was going to have to compete with the launch of her friend Katie Holmes’ new line. In fact, contrary to reports, Katie’s line — Holmes-Yang — will not even make an appearance at fashion week.

A source close to Holmes told Access Hollywood, the actress and her fashion partner, celebrity stylist Jeanne Yang, are nowhere near ready to show their line. Fans, however, did get a hint at her collection as Katie wore one of the items from her collection to the “Tropic Thunder” premiere she attended with husband Tom Cruise, last month.

While Posh’s collection is made up of dresses, Katie’s collection with her pal Jeanne will is eclectic, the source told Access. It will include blouses, skirts and scarves.
