A doctor who had been treating the 15-year-old actress, who plays Jenny Humphrey on the hit CW show, released a statement to Access confirming the news.
“I have been treating Miss Taylor Momsen for the last few days. She has been hospitalized for a severe, potentially life-threatening throat infection since Sunday,” Dr. Shawn Nasseri said in the statement.

However, the doctor said Momsen, whose character goes by the nickname “Little J” on “Gossip Girl,” is expected to recover soon thanks to the treatment she received.
“She has been an excellent patient, and after aggressive antibiotics and medications, she is expected to make a full recovery in the next three to five days,” Dr. Nasseri continued.
And while Momsen is expected to be fine, her illness did impact filming of the new season of “Gossip Girl.”
On Tuesday, Access Hollywood paid a visit to the “Gossip Girl” set for what was supposed to be a scene between Momsen and Chace Crawford (who plays Nate Archibald).
However, due to the teen’s hospitalization, the episode had to be altered and producers were forced to rewrite the script on the spot.
A publicist for the show told Access they expected Momsen to be unavailable all week, which will delay shooting upcoming scenes involving “Little J.”
A rep for The CW said they wished the actress a quick recovery, and were looking forward to having her back on set — perhaps as early as Friday.
“Taylor Momsen is a beloved member of our ‘Gossip Girl’ cast and we are happy to report she is on the road to a speedy recovery,” the rep told Access. “We all look forward to her planned return to work on Friday.”
