HOLLYWOOD, Calif. --
Any drama at the Emmys was strictly reserved for those picking up their acting awards. It certainly wasn’t about the style. The red carpet was a sea of safe choices and could have used a dose of drama.
One bright spot — bright colors. Mariska Hargitay in marigold Carolina Herrera, and Teri Hatcher in yellow Monique Lhuillier laughingly told us that they looked like, “a couple of hot bananas.” Brooke Shields was beautiful in bright fuchsia… Nicollette Sheridan went with eggplant Angel Sanchez. Tina Fey did a 180 from her dead-on Sara Palin Soccer Mom look — all sleek in deep purple David Meister. Christina Applegate went with a softer hue in her elegant one-shouldered light blue Reem Acra.
Going the classic black route — America Ferrera, Glenn Close and Kate Walsh and Debra Messing. Heidi Klum went with metallic Armani Prive on the red carpet — the first of her eight wardrobe changes for the night!
Eva Longoria was the night’s biggest risk taker in a sparkly flapper-style dress with a huge bow across the chest. She told us she wanted to “wrap herself like a present” for husband Tony Parker. Eva has been the center of much pregnancy speculation and her beaded and fringed dress did nothing to dispel those rumors. She finished off the look with dramatic make up and a slicked back bob. She wins my award for best smoky eyes.
So, who do YOU think was best-dressed last night?
1. Eva’s Fringed flapper frock
2. Christina Applegate in Reem Acra
3. Heidi Klum in metallic Armani Prive
4. America Ferrera in vintage black
