LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Robert Englund arrives to the screening of ‘Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer’ in Hollywood in August 2008Caption Robert Englund arrives to the screening of ‘Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer’ in Hollywood in August 2008Robert Englund, the man who wore Freddy Krueger’s knife-wielding glove, recently took a moment to chat with AccessHollywood.com about his new Web series, “Fear Clinic.”

“I’m a psychiatrist/psychologist who deals in phobias and I’ve lost my license stateside,” Englund explained of his new role.

In “Fear Clinic,” Englund plays Dr. Andover — an MD with an obsession to cure humanity’s worst fears. His method: the Fear Chamber, a device of his creation that can bring any worst fear to life. With Dr. Andover’s extreme methods, his unwilling patients will be cured for good

“I’ve brought with me my favorite nurse/bodyguard also – who in our show is played by Kane Hodder, the original Jason himself!” Robert continued, referring to the actor behind the mask in the “Friday the 13th” movies.

Each episode of “Fear Clinic” will spotlight Dr. Andover’s eerily extreme methods to help a patient at the clinic conquer their greatest fears: from hydrophobia (fear of water), scotophopia (fear of the dark), and entomophobia (fear of insects), to claustrophobia (fear of small spaces) and misophobia (fear of being contained with germs or dirt).

Englund, who is a newcomer to the Web serial world, experienced some trepidation when he first heard of the idea.

“It was really hard for me to wrap my head around because those are only 5-7 minute segments. I’d seen ‘Lonely Girl’ and I’ve seen some of the Webisodes but to get your mind around 5-7 minutes of storytelling is a real tricky thing,” he added.

Fear Clinic marks FEARnet’s seventh original, buzzed about, professionally produced online series.

The one-time owner of the “Freddy Krueger” mantle is busy with other pursuits as well, including an upcoming book tour for his new autobiography — another first for him.

“That’s new to me… the book tour… a whole new prospect to me. I haven’t done book signings in bookstores before,” Englund said.

“Fear Clinic” premieres on FEARnet.com and FEARnet’s VOD channel in October as part of its annual Halloween scare-a-bration.
