NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Access ‘Week In Geek’ takes a look at TNT’s new show “Falling Skies”… Checks out pics of Colin Farrell on the set of the new “Total Recall”… What is the early word on Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman performance?…“The Avengers” cast rocks out with Motley Crue”… And “The Muppets” take on “Green Lantern”
‘WEEK IN GEEK’ TV PICK: “FALLING SKIES” - This gritty sci-fi thriller from executive producer Steven Spielberg and stars Noah Wyle has its two hour series premiere Sunday at 9 PM on TNT.
A bearded Wyle anchors the show as Tom Mason, a reluctant freedom fighter up against brutal alien invaders that blends human familiar survival elements reminiscent of “War of the Worlds” and “Battlestar Galactica.” Humanity has lost its major cities and electricity, and resources to retaliate are scarce.
The two-hour introduction is a solid start-off point for the show as the remaining population tries to find a way to reclaim the planet from an advanced unstoppable enemy. The character driven storyline and top-notch cast are its biggest assets, and you definitely want to follow through to see how the tide may turn in their favor.
“GAME OF THRONES” SEASON FINALE AIRS SUNDAY – Television fans of the epic HBO hit series are still recovering from the shocking conclusion of last week’s episode (you can check out AccessHollywood.com’s coverage HERE!)
Tune in Sunday night at 9 PM for the highly anticipated and must-not-miss season finale. Fret not though; season two has already been green lit.
“THE AVENGERS” ROCK OUT WITH THE CRUE - Apparently when Marvel’s Mightiest Heroes aren’t saving the world, (or are on a film set shooting a big screen movie), they take in a Motley Crue concert. Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk / Bruce Banner), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) posed for this backstage photo with Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, and Mick Mars when the Crue’s tour stopped in Albuquerque, New Mexico (where “The Avengers” is currently shooting).
ANNE HATHAWAY TAKING CATWOMAN TO A NEW LEVEL - Courtesy of a source who talked to Hollywoodlife.com, Anne Hathaway has been taking her role as Catwoman on the super secret set of “The Dark Knight Rises” to an amazing level.
“Everything from the looks in her eyes, her head movements, her body–everything is so feline. The role is taking her to new places,” the website was told.
Warner Bros. has only released a single teaser image of Tom Hardy as the villain Bane in regards to the film. The eventual first official shot of Hathaway as Catwoman already has high buzz building online.
COLIN FARREL CAUGHT ON “TOTAL RECALL” SET – Check out these pics of Colin Farrell on the Toronto set of the reboot of “Total Recall.” This film promises to stick closer to the source material than the 1990 version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“THE WOLVERINE” SNAGS ITS DIRECTOR – It looks like “3:10 to Yuma” helmer James Mangold is 20th Century Fox and Hugh Jackman’s choice to sit in the seat left vacant by Darren Arronofsky, who departed the film earlier this year.
According to Deadline’s report, Mangold, who most recently directed Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in “Knight and Day,” will soon enter negotiations for the gig targeting a fall start for the next adventure for the popular Marvel Mutant.
“TRANSFORMERS” IMAX IMAGE REVEALED – Fandango has the first look at the new one-sheet for the IMAX 3-D release of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” which features Optimus Prime in the rubble of what remains of Chicago. The third film in the series explodes into theaters on June 29.
UPDATE ON THE LIVE ACTION “STAR WARS” TV SERIES - “Star Wars” producer Rick McCallum set the record straight regarding the future of the iconic franchise on television to CzechPosition.com.
To backtrack a bit first, in an interview last month with G4’s “Attack Of The Show!” “Star Wars” creator George Lucas updated the progress of the proposed live action TV show based in a galaxy far far away.
It was unclear how far into production they may have actually gone so far, and fans were unsure from Lucas’ interview if 50 hours of actual unfinished footage were just sitting on a shelf.
McCallum clarified the situation. “We have 50 hours of third-draft scripts, but the problem we have is there is a lot of digital animation,” he said.
“We don’t have the technology yet to be able to do them at a price that is safe for television. Since we would be financing them, it would be suicide for us to do this… So we are going to wait three or four years.”
“THE MUPPETS” GO GREEN (LANTERN) - While going green is a theme Kermit The Frog has little choice in, check out this new teaser poster and trailer called “Being Green” for the upcoming Muppet movie, complete with a heavy nod to DC Comics’ Emerald Knight.
“SESAME STREET” PREVIEWS “SPIDERMONSTER: THE MUSICAL” - The “Sesame Street” gang likes to keep current, so in this sneak peek clip they take on the Broadway headliner, “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.” See the next hot ticket in town starring none other than Grover. But are we to assume he has now retired his Super Grover alter ego?
