LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Ronald Regan parlayed their celebrity into successful political careers, and now Alec Baldwin hopes to follow in their footsteps.

In an interview for “60 Minutes” airing Sunday, Alec says he would like to run for an elected office in the future.

”[It’s] something I might do one day!” the “30 Rock” star said. “There’s other things I want to do, besides acting. There’s no age limit on running for office, to a degree.”

Like many politicians, Alec has had his fair share of public controversies. He spoke candidly during the “60 Minutes” interview about the infamous voicemail he left for his 12-year-old daughter, Ireland, last year, calling her “a thoughtless little pig.”

“You can pretty much bet all you own that I would never leave another voicemail message for my daughter that wasn’t just like something out of a Rodgers and Hammerstein score,” he said of the incident.

No word on when Alec might throw his hat into the political ring.
