Four months removed from a hospitalization after an overdose of medication, Alexa Ray Joel is embracing her fresh start – and doing so with a new look.

Alexa, the daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, hit the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City this week with one new accessory – a new nose.

As it turns out, the starlet said she’s been considering getting the work done for quite some time.

“I was thinking about getting this for years,” she told People. “[My nose] always bothered me a little bit. I was self-conscious of pictures taken from the side. To some people that’s vain, but at the end of the day, we all want to feel pretty.”

The 24-year-old Alexa, who was recently named the new face of hair care brand Prell, said the timing was right for the change.

“Would it have been smart to get this procedure last year? No. I didn’t know who I was,” she continued. “And now? “I feel really good.”

However, if anyone is thinking the procedure is the first step in a complete plastic surgery transformation, Alexa says think again.

“Would I do anything else to my body? No,” she added, calling out another starlet who recently underwent a drastic makeover. “It’s not 10 procedures like Heidi Montag. For me, that’s a little extreme, but to each her own.”
