LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Apparently, America already loves David Cook — or at least did over the weekend.

The rocking “American Idol” hopeful had the No. 1 downloaded album on Amazon’s MP3 chart, during that period, according to Fox News.

If you’re wondering how that’s possible, considering Cook is still battling it out with five other hopefuls for the top spot, it’s because in 2006, he released his own album, “Analog Heart,” an MP3 copy of which was available on Amazon.

Cook’s album, however, is no longer available on the Internet portal.

According to several blog sites, Cook’s album appears to have been removed some time on Monday.

Despite the removal, Cook is still listed as the top artist for Amazon’s MP3 section, placing him above the likes of R.E.M. and Mariah Carey, who are in slots two and three, respectively.

A rep for “American Idol” was not immediately available for comment on the story.
