LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Songstress Leona Lewis says she’s working to put the October attack by a fan during a book signing in London behind her.
“He attacked me out of the blue, while I was doing a book signing… someone like that is very very unwell,” Leona told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson Sunday night on the American Music Awards red carpet in LA.
“I’m kind of getting over it,” she said of the October incident, where the singer was slapped at Waterston’s bookstore in Piccadilly while signing copies of her new autobiography, “Dreams.”
“It was just really out of the blue, really random…a very very ill person,” the “Bleeding Love” singer said of Peter Kowalczyk, 29, who was arrested and charged with assaulting her. “It’s an isolated incident, so I’m kind of putting it behind me.”
And though the attack was terrifying, the singer said she hasn’t beefed up her security to any unreasonable point.
“I think it’s always important to be vigilante of what you’re doing and aware of your surroundings,” she told Shaun. “But, not to make yourself too closed off. It’s not fun.”
