'America's Got Talent' Season 9: Judges Preview Talent To Come
“America’s Got Talent” returns for its ninth season Tuesday night on NBC, and judge Howie Mandel said the contestants have once again taken things up a notch.
“It’s funnier, it’s crazier, it’s more outrageous than it has ever been and I cannot believe it,” Howie told Access Hollywood.
And there will also be a new mix of acts never before seen on the “AGT” stage.
“Dancers and singers, obviously you get them on our show, but the beauty of our show is you can get absolutely everything and any kind of act, so we are getting acts we’ve never seen before, but even if we’re getting an act we’ve seen before, it’s being done by somebody you wouldn’t expect,” Howie said. “We have the youngest people we’ve ever had in the competition, to the oldest person we’ve ever had in the history of ‘AGT.’”
“We have a 93-year-old man doing like a strength thing,” Judge Mel B chimed in.
“Can you imagine that? And he’ll blow you away,” Howie added. “He’d blow you away if he was 23. He is 93 years old.”
Nick Cannon and Heidi Klum also revealed some of the non-traditional talent set to hit the “AGT” stage this season.
“[You’ve] got people eating license plates,” he said.
“Someone who wants to be a human donut, upside down,” Heidi said of one of the more unusual acts to come.
“He had me be a part of the act and I don’t even know what I was doing,” Nick said.
Mel B said one contender, though, stood out for all the right reasons.
“We have a 12 year old that has actually topped [Season 8 winner] Kenichi, and he’s only 12,” she said.
And, for Nick, who once again hosts the show, he said it’s been rewarding to watch people take the stage to pursue their passion.
“We’re allowing people to accomplish their dreams. People are stepping out on the biggest stage in the world really, the biggest talent show in the world and they’re getting to give it their all,” Nick said. “It takes so much courage, it takes so much passion, so when you see these people come up and their emotional either way, it’s outstanding.”
“America’s Got Talent” Season 9 premieres Tuesday night at 8/7c on NBC.
