“The support we’ve received from the creative community is remarkable. My phone is constantly ringing with people asking, ‘What can I do and how can I help?’” a “Stand Up To Cancer” producer said in statement. “We hope viewers all over the country will do the same.”

Some of the celebrities confirmed for the cancer research telethon include, Charlize Theron, “American Idol” winner David Cook, Christina Applegate, Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek, NBC newsman Brian Williams, Neil Patrick Harris and Meryl Streep.

The telethon could also include a few laughs, as the animated characters Marge and Homer Simpson are also booked for the evening of goodwill.
