Aretha Franklin said medical professionals are still trying to uncover the root of what caused the leg spasms that kept her from attending friend Whitney Houston’s funeral last month.
“I am due for an MRI… [I] had an X-Ray,” Aretha told Access Hollywood as she celebrated her 70th birthday in New York City over the weekend. “It didn’t show what’s going on, but we know there’s something going on…I know it better than anybody.”
The Queen of Soul still isn’t back to normal, but she’s managing.
“I feel good — as long as I don’t put it in a certain position right now, it’s OK,” she said of her leg.
On the day Houston was laid to rest, Franklin’s absence created headlines until it was revealed she missed the event due to the health issue.
When asked if she was surprised by the attention her leg spasms caused, Franklin said she very much wanted to be at the good-bye to Houston ceremony.
“It was severe,” she told Access of her leg spasms. “God knows I wanted to be there, but I just couldn’t.
