Slade Wilson dropped a bombshell on Laurel Lance’s doorstep on “Arrow” recently, when he revealed Oliver Queen is the man behind the mask, but Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said her reaction to the news may surprise fans.
“I think that Laurel obviously has had a very rough year and when Slade told Laurel, he thought that that was going to be yet another devastating death charge into Oliver’s life,” Kreisberg said when AccessHollywood.com asked about how Laurel will take the news, when the EP sat down with TV writers earlier this week.
“I think her emotional reaction to the news is surprising,” he continued. “I think most people assume she is going to react one way, and that she reacts a different way, I think, is great.”
Exactly which “way” Laurel deals with the news remains to be seen on The CW Wednesday night drama, but Kreisberg said it lays new paths for Katie Cassidy’s character to travel down, just like it did for Tommy Merlyn.
“It’s funny because it was sort of the same experience with Colin Donnell’s character, with Tommy, where once he knew [Oliver’s secret], it changed his character so much,” Kreisberg continued. “There was so much more you could write for him and just the way he looked at everything in the world, every scene suddenly became super charged with him, even if it was a small scene that didn’t really have much to do with the main plot.”
“Arrow” continues Wednesday at 8/7c on The CW.
