LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Country crooner Brad Paisley was thrilled to pick up his first Grammy at Sunday's show, especially as he had been previously nominated over a dozen times.

"It's great," he said backstage after his win for Best Country Music Instrumental Performance for his song, "Throttleneck." Fourteenth nomination, first Grammy. Fourteen more and I’ll get my second."

Paisley arrived at the Grammys earlier in the evening with his wife on his arm, "According To Jim" star, Kimberley Williams-Paisley.

Though he stopped for little press on the way in he admitted there is one thing he can’t wait to make time for – his son, who turns one-year-old later this month.

"Fatherhood is amazing," Paisley gushed. "He's basically walking as of yesterday – It's the Otis Campell of 'The Andy Griffith Show' walk. Every day it's different."
