Bette Midler On Her New Vegas Show & Amy Winehouse

LAS VEGAS, NV --
Tonight is the opening night for “Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On,” at the Colosseum at Casears Palace in Las Vegas and audiences will see Bette take on pop culture as she pokes fun at the foibles of Britney, Paris and Lindsay.
“It's fun, it's funny,” Bette told Access Hollywood of the show. “I wish I had men in it! I chose just to do women because I am a woman and I really feel like something has changed. There has been a shift in the way women behave and I am not quite sure what it's about, I'm not quite sure if it's permanent. I am not quite sure what it means in the big picture.”
Besides her stab at the females of young Hollywood, Bette’s show will feature hits from across her career, which gained prominence with a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1974, a title she now shares with Amy Winehouse.
“I am very touched to be in the same category as Amy Winehouse, I adore her,” Bette said. “You know — you do want to smack her. Everyone knows how good she is except her and that's a damn shame.”
Sixty-two-year-old Bette will play 100 shows a year for the next two years at the Colosseum, alternating with the slightly younger, 61-year-old Cher. And these two go way back. Access showed them a pic of the two posing together, in 1975.
“How divine do we look?” Bette exclaimed upon seeing the snap. “Oh my god! The trashy ladies number [we did] is floating around YouTube somewhere!”
Bette is known as the “Divine Miss M,” but she might not be the only one, her 21-year-old daughter Sophie bares a striking resemblance to her mother.
“I didn't used to [think we looked so much alike] until people said, ‘Look at this! Look at this’ and I said, ‘Oh my god, that really is scary!’ Bette exclaimed. “She is a fabulous kid. I am mad about my daughter, my girl.
