LONDON, England --

Nicolas Cage will receive published apologies from fellow “Peggy Sue Got Married” co-star, Kathleen Turner, and her co-defendants over claims the actress made in her autobiography, according to a statement from Cage’s lawyer released to Access Hollywood.

Cage and Turner were not present at London’s High Court for the ruling in Cage’s favor against Turner, Headline Publishing Group, and Britain’s Daily Mail, which posted a portion of Turner’s book on its Web site.

In her autobiography, “Send Yourself Roses,” Turner wrote that Cage was “arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, for stealing a dog. He’d come across a Chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket.”

“My client is extremely pleased with the outcome, which sets the record straight, since he has never been arrested for drunk driving, dog theft, or anything else. As an actor who stars in many family-friendly films and who has a young child and teenager of his own, Mr. Cage was understandably upset at having wrongly been depicted as condoning that sort of reckless, dangerous and criminal behavior. Mr. Cage is gratified that the defendants have done the right thing by acknowledging their errors and making amends, which Mr. Cage has directed be donated to a worthy charitable cause, ” Cage’s lawyer said in a statement to Access.

The defendants agreed to publish apologies to Cage and have a printed correction/apology page inserted into existing copies of Turner’s book, along with promising to not repeat the false Cage statements in the future.

Cage will also have his legal costs covered by the defendants and a “substantial donation” from the defendants will be made to The National Adult Protective Services Foundation, which benefits victims of elder abuse, per Cage’s request.
