LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Jennie Garth has dropped out of her CBS comedy pilot, fueling speculation she could be moving back to her old “90210” zip code.
Garth left “My Best Friend’s Girl” after doing a table read on Monday, a rep for the actress confirmed to Access Hollywood.
The split was described as a mutual decision between Garth and the show’s producers.
As a result, Canadian actress Kristin Booth will replace Garth as the female lead in the upcoming sitcom.
Garth has also been coping with the death of her father, who passed away after she landed the part in “My Best Friend’s Girl.”
As for the new “Beverly Hills, 90210” spin-off, it has been rumored that writer Rob Thomas has been looking to court Garth to reprise her role as Kelly Taylor, possibly returning to her old stomping grounds as a fashion design teacher.
Much like the original series, which centered around the Walsh family from Minnesota, the new “90210” will also focus on a group of Midwest transplants.
“The guy who gets hired as the new principal brings his family of four from Kansas to Beverly Hills,” Thomas previously told People.
Thomas (who is also the creator of “Veronica Mars”) told People “there is a plan for bringing back one of the cast members,” although he would not provide any more details.
But if Garth isn’t interested, her former West Beverly High BFF Donna Martin (Tori Spelling) appears ready to jump at the chance to be part of the “90210” revival on The CW.
“I would love to be a part of it,” Spelling previously told Access Hollywood.
Whichever alumni signs on, they will join the already announced cast members Dustin Milligan and Anna Lynne McCord.
