LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

They may have reunited for the cover of the May 15 issue of Rolling Stone magazine, but it appears there will be no repairing the former friendship of “The Hills” stars Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag.

“We were on good behavior,” Lauren said of the cover shoot. “I mean there’s definitely bad energy between us, but I’m not angry… We’re civil with each other.”

In the article, the writer, Jason Gay, noted that the two did not actually speak to each other during the photo call.

“That’s civil for us,” Lauren commented. “If we did talk, it wouldn’t be nice words. So that’s the only relationship we’ll be able to have — silence.”

The feud reportedly started when Lauren blamed Heidi and her manager/fiance Spencer Pratt, for circulating rumors that there was a sex tape involving Lauren or “LC” as she is often called.

Spencer and Heidi have denied the claim.

The feud continued however, for Heidi, when she heard Lauren’s continued unkind words over Spencer and the couple’s relationship.

Despite the fact that their MTV show is a hit, Lauren said she has no interest in squashing the feud.

“There’s no point to it,” she said. “We just have this weird rivalry. There’s something really high school about it. But instead of writing rude things about each other on the bathroom wall, we do it through tabloids. I don’t always reciprocate – I’m not going to be childish.”

And Spencer doesn’t think concluding the spat is a good idea either.

“People love feuds,” Spencer said. “Who were Paris and Nicole before they weren’t friends? That’s when they became superstars. If Lauren and Heidi were friends, people wouldn’t tune in.”

As for Heidi, she isn’t as convinced in keeping it up. She told Rolling Stone, she struggles with figuring out whether to make up with Lauren sometimes.

“We were such good friends,” Heidi said. “A part of me just wants to go up and be like, ‘Hey, how are you?’ But the other part of me is so mad… It’s like I’m the odd man out.”
