‘24’: Kiefer Sutherland ‘Excited’ To Bring Jack Bauer Back

After a four-year break, Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer will return to the small screen this week – something the actor was initially very anxious about.

“At first it was nerve-racking,” Kiefer told Access Hollywood at the “24: Live Another Day” premiere on Friday, when asked how it felt to step back into Jack’s world for the upcoming mini-series. “It was something that we were very proud of when we put it to bed after eight seasons, and you don’t want to do any damage to that, so I was nervous going into it.

“But it is something that’s also so intrinsically kind of part of me now, after about three days, I felt very comfortable and then started to get very excited about what we were doing,” he continued, adding, “Now I’ve actually passed all that nervousness and now I just want, you know, hoping that people will kind of enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

During his many years of hunting down national security threats and preventing attacks as part of the fictional Counter Terrorism Unit, Kiefer suffered many an injury on the set of the Fox thriller.

“Over the years, there’s been a lot of things – I’ve broke my foot, I fractured my kneecap, I’ve broke a couple fingers, broke a rib,” he told Access. “It’s just stuff that happens and it’s never seemingly doing the stunt where you think it’s going to happen. It’s usually, you know, you slip and fall doing something stupid. But over the years stuff does happen.”

“24: Live Another Day” premieres Monday at 8/7c on Fox.
