We’re a little behind the rest of the country, but it’s finally sweater weather out here in Los Angeles.
It was fun watching people out and about over the weekend in their sweaters and scarves, even if it’s just a little bit chilly.
Here are a few of the most popular styles.
SPIKES, STUDS & ZIPPERS:
I saw quite a few ladies wearing sweaters featuring tough hardware….with the spiky versions being especially popular. I like this look, and may be able to get away with a zipper-adorned sweater, but with a new baby, I think I will sit this one out. I don’t want spikes or studs to poke my little girl and cause injury!
ANIMAL PRINT:
I am obsessed with a red and cream leopard print ALC sweater I saw at Barneys, but will have to wait for that one to go on sale though, it’s quite pricey! Luckily, animal print sweaters are everywhere. I was able to squeeze into an XL leopard cardi from the Target kids department. Cute style at less than 20 bucks!
JEWELED:
J. Crew owns this look and while many others have jumped on the bandwagon, the Crew still does it better than anyone! The jeweled sweater is a feminine look that is so versatile and works with everything from pencil skirts to blazers to jeans. And since you can keep all other jewelry and accessories to a minimum, it’s a cinch to look pulled together!
PRINT:
Abstract prints are dominating the stores and the streets, especially in black and white. Eighties geo, bohemian Southwestern and camo print sweaters are all well represented too. I also spotted loads of sweaters with animals on them…everything from cats to camels! Cute!
CABLE KNIT:
The classic fisherman’s sweater never really goes out of style and this fall, it’s really popular and available at all price points. I like this, especially for colder climes, and love to toughen the preppy look a bit with a moto jacket and boots.
