5 Seconds of Summer are heating up the music charts and fans lined up for days to see the band perform on the “Today” show on Tuesday.
(They drew 15,000 fans — the second largest crowd in the concert series history, behind One Direction’s record of 20,000.)
“We started in my garage and now three years later there are just so many people,” Ashton Irwin told Access Hollywood in a new interview. “It’s kind of hard to explain – it’s just the best thing ever.”
Luke Hemmings said he was thrilled over the fan turnout, and is overwhelmed by the group’s success.
“I’m happy it’s even on the charts, to be honest. I’m happy we have an album!” he laughed. “People like it a lot.”
Adding, “We were in Manchester a few days ago and we heard people were lining up for us.”
As for whether the boys (Ashton, Luke, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood) are dating anyone, Michael said they are currently unattached.
“We are all single,” he said. “We stay married to the band.”
