Access Exclusive: Rita Cosby Responds To Stern’s $60M Lawsuit

Despite Howard K. Stern’s $60 million libel lawsuit, Rita Cosby continues to stand by her story.

In an exclusive statement to Access Hollywood, Cosby responded to the lawsuit filed by Stern on Tuesday.

“Although I have not been served with any papers in reference to a lawsuit, I stand by my investigation and fully believe in the justice system,” Cosby told Access.

In the lawsuit, filed in a New York federal court on Tuesday, Stern is seeking $50 million in punitive damages and $10 million in compensatory damages from Cosby and her publisher over her new Anna Nicole Smith tell-all, “Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death.”

In the book, which was released last month, Cosby alleges that Stern and Larry Birkhead were involved in a sexual encounter. She also claims that in the aftermath of Anna’s death, Stern and Birkhead teamed up to manipulate the media for monetary gain.

The lawsuit states that the book falsely accuses Stern of, among other things, criminal lewd acts, homosexual acts, illegal possession and use of cocaine, conspiring to commit murder and kidnapping for ransom.

Cosby, a former MSNBC correspondent, claims there is a videotape of the alleged sexual encounter between Stern and Birkhead. She even claims that one of Anna’s former employees had witnessed Anna watching it.
