Access Investigates: Love On The Set

Brad and Angelina. Jen and Vince. Certainly not the first ones to find love on the set, but definitely the most talked-about of late, especially with the new baby and ?The Break-Up? in the news.

It?s finally time for Access to investigate why love on the set happens, even against all advice.

?When I first came on the set, the director said ?Listen, I don?t want you to get involved with the lead actress in this movie. I want you to leave it on the screen,?? Ben Affleck told us of his work on “Gigli,” where he fell in love with co-star Jennifer Lopez.

But yet it happens again? and again? and again.

?The truth is, when we did start working together, we got along great,? Lopez said of Affleck.

?It kind of exacerbates what would be happening in a bar,? Susan Sarandon told Access.

In fact, it?s nearly a Hollywood epidemic.

Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

And the list goes on?

Tom and Nicole?s romance began on the set of ?Days of Thunder.? So did Tom and Penelope Cruz?s (?Vanilla Sky?).

For Jennifer Garner, first it was Scott Foley (?Felicity?), then Michael Vartan (?Alias?) and then of course Ben.

And before he married Garner, Ben met and dated Gwyneth (?Shakespeare In Love?), then was engaged to J.Lo.

For an explanation on this Hollywood phenomenon, we went to an expert ? ?Loveline? host Dr. Drew Pinsky.

Dr. Drew should know. He said working non-stop on-location for months at a time is a recipe for romance.

?I?ve been on movie sets. If you?ve ever spent a week, it?s like being in a sensory deprivation tank,? Dr. Drew told Access. ?You?re in this isolated environment where the only sensory stimuli you have is from the other actors and people in the room with you for day and night. And if you?re in there having evocative, romantic or even sexual feelings for the other person, that can evolve into something natural.?

Actor Jon Voight opened up about the bond that forms between co-stars.

?There?s an emotional something that happens on sets. You have to be very disciplined not to be jumping around, I guess,? Voight told us.

And in this case, daddy knows best. Voight?s daughter ? Angelina Jolie ? has love on the set down to a science.

She met her first husband, Johnny Lee Miller in 1994 while working on ?Hackers.? Angie also met her second husband, Billy Bob Thornton, on the set of ?Pushing Tin? four years later.

And in 2004, Angie became the ?Mrs.? to Brad Pitt in ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith.?

The rest shall we say is history, as rumors of a set romance began when Brad, who was still married to Jennifer Aniston at the time.

Call it chemistry if you will. But ?The Shield? and ?Fantastic Four? star Michael Chiklis calls it something else.

?All of a sudden, you?re on a movie set. You?re playing lovers. You?re supposed to go there. You end up going there and the next thing you know, you?re there,? Chiklis contends.

Chiklis? ?Fantastic Four? co-star Jessica Alba also found love on the set with boyfriend Cash Warren.

?I think you?re just thrown into a very familiar environment and you get to know people really fast,? Alba told Access.

And Cash wasn?t Jessica?s first on-set love ? she was once engaged to her ?Dark Angel? co-star Michael Weatherly.

?Everyone is out of their comfort zone and in a new place so you become fast friends,? she smiled.
