Access Investigates: The Lohan Family Feud

The Lohan family history is filled with trauma and drama, so much so that when Lindsay decided to address it in her work, Access Hollywood was there.

“I may have all of this visually, but inside, internally, if you don’t have what you really want, nothing’s really there,” Lindsay said.

Lindsay bravely exposed her family’s dysfunction in her 2005 video “Confessions of A Broken Heart,” an autobiography of sorts.

“I cried when I saw it. I cried when I saw my take,” Lindsay said of the clip. “It’s very, I mean for me personally, I feel like this is probably the best acting I’ve ever done. Just, it’s kind of like therapy in a way.”

In trying to understand how this talented 21-year old wound up facing two DUI arrests, it seems critical that we look to her roots.

Dina Lohan, Lindsay’s mother was alongside her daughter every step of her early career. She stayed in New York in 2004 with her other three children when 18-year-old Lindsay moved to L.A.

Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s dad, served almost two years for drunk driving and other charges. He told Fox’s “The Morning Show” that he did have a violent past with Dina.

“I’ll say this, in 1989, my wife and I had an argument and that’s the one time I did slap her and never again did I ever . . . Lindsay was only two years old,” he said.

As for Lindsay, in our 2005 interview, she said she had the strength to battle the Lohan family waves.

“I’d like a little bit more of a conclusion with my parents, just for their sake. But I’m okay. I’m a tough little cookie,” she said.
