Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson sat down with Whitney Houston on the set of her upcoming film, “Sparkle,” last November and sadly, that interview has become the superstar’s final one-on-one sit-down – something Shaun never saw coming.
“No one could have told me that this woman would be dead in 13 weeks,” Shaun said of Whitney’s appearance during their interview on the set of “Sparkle” in Detroit. “She looked strong, she looked happy, she looked very healthy. She was in a really good place.
“She was very excited about the movie she was doing,” Shaun added. “She even talked about the possibility of doing a sequel to ‘Waiting to Exhale.’”
Despite Whitney’s previous mildly-successful comeback attempts, Shaun felt like the star was finally breaking through, and on the verge of a legitimate rebound.
“There have been many other times in her career when we’ve been told she’s coming back and she really didn’t look as strong as someone would think she was supposed to look. But this time, she looked really great,” Shaun said. “And when I had heard she had passed away, I was — and still am — in shock because what a waste… what a total waste.”
The Access correspondent and Weekend Anchor said her heart goes out to the “I Will Always Love You” singer’s 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, whom Whitney proudly described as her “greatest inspiration” during the fateful interview.
“I feel for her little daughter, Bobbi Kristina. I know that they were very, very close and I’m just heartbroken,” Shaun said. “I’m really heartbroken not only as a fan, but as somebody who saw her recently.
“I was really cheering for her to really get back in there and show the world what she’s made of,” she added.
