Access the Web: Jason Priestley Talks ‘The Lake’

Former teenage heartthrob Jason Priestley has moved on from Beverly Hills to “The Lake,” a new online series from TheWB.com.

“It’s not quite the ‘fish out of water’ story that 90210 was, and is,” Jason Priestley told AccessHollywood.com when asked if there was a similarity between his online directorial debut and the television show that made him a star.

“The Lake,” a new web series bowing on TheWB.com, is a drama/comedy about a group of young adults trying, without success, to escape their daily lives back home on the shores of Lake Eleanor.

“The summer time is when people get a chance to reinvent themselves. I think that was one of the things we were trying to look at here.” Priestley continued. “The cast we assembled all really brought a lot to the material.”

Making the transition from the small screen to the web was a labor of love for Jason.

“Working on the web the biggest thing you have [to worry about] is time,” he said. “You really have to come up with creative ways to shoot things quickly and efficiently and yet still creatively so that they look good, rich, and pretty.

“I think my favorite day,” Jason continued, recalling a highlight from the grueling 12-day shoot, “was the day I put them all in Big Bear Lake and the temperature was 57 degrees. Don’t tell them that but secretly, that was my favorite day.”

For fans of Jason’s early work, will the captain of “The Lake” ever return to the hills of Beverly?

“No,” Jason stated with a touch of mirth and an air of finality.

“The Lake” is currently stearming on TheWB.com, with new episodes available every week.
