After Baby No. 3, Jennie Garth Puts On Her ‘Dancing’ Shoes

Jennie Garth is hoping to cha-cha her way into America’s hearts on “Dancing With the Stars,” which kicks off its new season, Monday night on ABC.

Garth is the second cast member from “90210” to join the celebrity dance competition, following Ian Ziering who managed a heartyfourth place finish, last season.

Fans will remember Jennie watching her former co-star from the front row, but don’t expect that to provided her an inside track on the upcoming competition.

“I didn’t even think about watching it, thinking that I would be doing it, so I didn’t take anything from it other than it was pretty and sparkly,” she told Access Hollywood. “It looked like a lot of fun, it looked like he was having a great time.”

After having her third baby, Garth said originally, she wasn’t even sure she wanted to take part in the fancy footwork.

“I didn’t think I was gonna do it,” she said. “I didn’t have any plans of doing it at the time, I’d just had a baby and like, it’s the last thing you think about — dancing.”

So what changed?

“The timing was just right for me and my family my life,” Garth admitted. “It just worked out. I always wanted to be a dancer when I was little so this is a [chance] to learn from the best.”

Producers paired up Jennie with professional dancer Derek Hough.

It’s Hough’s first time on the “Dancing” stage, but not the first time a Hough has been on the stage. Derek’s younger sister Julianne, samba’d and freestyled her way to the top prize with speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, last season.

“I think that it’s gonna be kinda competitive between the two of them,” Jennie said.

“Oh I never underestimate Julianne,” Derek added. “She’s a really good, really good dancer, great personality.”

The new season of “Dancing With the Stars” kicks off Monday night at 8 PM EST, showing off the moves of the female celebrity contestants including Garth, Mel “Scary Spice” B, Sabrina Bryan, Josie Maran, Jane Seymour and Marie Osmond. Tuesday night at 8PM EST, the men including Helio Castroneves, Mark Cuban, Cameron Mathison, Floyd Mayweather, Wayne Newton and Albert Reed, will face off. On Wednesday’s 8PM EST episode, the first couple will be voted off.
