Akon’s Stage Collapses During Construction; Three Injured

ATLANTA, Georgia (October 26, 2007) — Part of a concert set being built for a show featuring R&B singer Akon collapsed at Emory University, injuring three workers.

Thursday’s concert was canceled.

The workers, who were part of the crew putting up the outdoor stage, were injured when a canopy collapsed Thursday afternoon, Emory spokeswoman Nancy Seideman said. Seideman did not know the extent of their injuries.

The workers were taken to local hospitals.

Akon’s hits include “Don’t Matter,” “I Wanna Love You” with Snoop Dogg and “Smack That” with Eminem.
