Alexander Skarsgard Talks True Blood Bromance With Bill & Sweden’s Eurovision Victory

There’s a bit of a vampire bromance coming with “True Blood” Season 5, as Bill Compton and Eric Northman find themselves teaming up.

“That’s what it is — it’s a bromance,” Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman) told Access Hollywood on the red carpet at the “True Blood” premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “It’s been a lot of fun doing that because there’s kind of been like four years of us butting heads, fighting over Sookie and [Stephen Moyer, who plays Bill Compton,] is one of my best friends, so it’s fun to actually get to have fun together… and to do something different and something new.”

Still, the bromance won’t happen immediately, Alex said.

“I think it’s weird for Eric in the beginning, because he doesn’t really like Bill that much,” the actor explained. “He doesn’t hate him, but he doesn’t’ really care much about him, so it’s weird that he’s suddenly cares about this guy, like, ‘What?’”

Alexander actually flew back from his native Sweden in time for the “True Blood” premiere, but he was in his homeland over the weekend when the country picked up the top prize at the Eurovision Song Contest.

“I was actually in Stockholm when it happened. Epic, epic times,” Alexander laughed of being in the winning nation, as the singer Loreen, and her song, “Euphoria,” beat out songs from dozens of other European countries at the big event, which was held this time around in Azerbaijan.

So did it make the Swede proud that his country’s performer and song beat out artists from across Europe, including Engelbert Humperdinck, who represented the UK in the international competition?

“You know what? It did actually. I didn’t watch it, I didn’t watch the Eurovision Song Contest Saturday night, but I have heard of the song. And it’s actually pretty good. It’s not a bad song,” he laughed.

“True Blood” returns for Season 5 on Sunday, June 10 at 9 PM on HBO.
