Alfonso Ribeiro poured his heart and soul (and back!) into “Dancing with the Stars” in order to win Season 19. So what are the champ’s plans now?
A babymoon with his pregnant wife, and a whole lotta beach.
“We’re bringing [our son], but we’re also bringing the nanny and we’re gonna go to Maui,” Alfonso told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “We’re gonna lay on the beach and just do nothing for a week.”
Adding, “I just need my body to heal.”
The actor is recuperating from the back injury he suffered toward the end of his “DWTS” run – something he initially thought would end his dancing days.
“The day I actually injured my back… I thought it was over. I was laying there, literally couldn’t’ move. 45 minutes, couldn’t get up off the floor. At that point I was really nervous about it all being over,” he said. “I didn’t think I would be able to one, come back from that, and two, learn the choreography – I had to learn the routines.”
Alfonso fought through the injury to gain mirrorball glory and the win has delivered many new opportunities for his career. Would he like to pursue hosting or scripted TV?
“I’m kinda in between. I definitely want to host some things. I feel like America has started to fall in love with Alfonso, and not the characters that I might’ve played throughout my career,” he explained. “So we’re definitely going to go out and pitch a few shows that I’m going to be hosting and see where that takes us. But I kind of want to do it all. That’s kind of been the blessing and the curse of my career. I kinda love doing everything, so I never focus on one thing.
“I wanna do some scripted, some hosting, and see where it takes me,” he continued. “I’m so blessed right now. I feel so happy.”
