Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne Among 2007 AMA Performers

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 25, 2007) – The American Music Awards announced Thursday that Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne and Nicole Scherzinger are confirmed to perform at the 35th annual edition of the popular awards show, which will broadcast at 8 PM EST/PST on November 18, live on ABC from the NOKIA Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Celine Dion, Daughtry, Fergie and Rihanna are also slated to perform.

Keys is a three-time AMA winner and a five-time nominee. Her third studio album “As I Am” will be released November 13. The singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, actress, philanthropist and author has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and has won numerous awards, including nine Grammy Awards and 11 Billboard Music Awards.

Canadian-born Lavigne was nominated for Favorite Female Artist: Pop/Rock. Her most recent album, “The Best Damn Thing,” reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. Her 2002 debut album “Let Go” sold more than 18 million copies worldwide.

Scherzinger is best known as the lead vocalist for the R&B group The Pussycat Dolls. Her debut solo album “Her Name is Nicole” is set for a November 20 release.

Scherzinger has worked on her album for the past two years with the help of some of the biggest names in music, including will.i.am, Timbaland, Akon, Ne-Yo, Pharrell Williams, Macy Gray and Sting.
