Aliens Vs. Vampires! ‘I Am Number Four’ Director Thinks The Bloodsuckers Are ‘Wearing Out’

Are aliens the new vampires?

“I Am Number Four” director D.J. Caruso thinks the sun is setting on Hollywood’s love affair with vampires.

“Aliens have always been around,” the “Disturbia” director told MTV News. “Vampires: They’re wearing out.”

Timothy Olyphant, who plays Alex Pettyfer’s mentor in the teen alien movie, agreed with his director.

“I didn’t notice aliens kind of going in and out of fashion,” the actor explained. “Where vampires kind of come and go, aliens, in general, it’s a broader palette, so they’ve been around.”

Does the “I Am Number Four” team actually believe aliens exist?

“There’s got to be something out there — one way or another,” Alex told MTV News.

His director agreed, adding, “I think there’s something else out there. I can’t imagine that God’s just allowing this one planet to function; I think he’s got a bunch of experiments floating around.”

“I Am Number Four” is in theaters now.
