Aly Raisman Admits To Struggles While Preparing For Dancing With The Stars

Gymnast Aly Raisman may appear to be a frontrunner going into Season 16 of “Dancing with the Stars,” which kicks off Monday on ABC, but she admitted she is having some trouble in rehearsals.

“I have some gymnastics habits that are a little tough [to break],” the Fierce Five member told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live.

Also tough? Going from barefoot to high heels.

“It’s a little bit of a struggle,” she said. “I feel really awkward in them, but we’re gonna keep practicing.”

Still, wearing the heels does have some post-practice benefits, courtesy of Aly’s “DWTS” partner, Mark Ballas.

“He gave me a foot rub last night, though. He’s the best partner,” she said.

Aly actually appeared last season on “DWTS,” helping out in a dance performed by Shawn Johnson and pro Derek Hough, and it was then that she began campaigning for her own “Dancing” spot.

“I made sure everyone knew that I wanted to do the show ‘cause I had so much fun and then I found out at the end of December,” Aly said of when she was locked in for the “DWTS” gig. “So I had to keep it secret for a long time.”

“Dancing with the Stars” Season 16 premieres Monday, March 18 at 8/7c on ABC.
