Amber Heard ‘Learned A Lot’ From Kevin Costner In ‘3 Days To Kill’

Johnny Depp is Amber Heard’s leading man off-screen, but at work — on-screen — her current leading man is Kevin Costner, who she co-stars with in “3 Days to Kill.”

Access Hollywood caught up with the soon-to-be Mrs. Depp (she and Johnny reportedly got engaged on Christmas Eve), and she sang Kevin’s praises.

“Kevin is wonderful. He is such a — both on and off camera — he’s a wonderful person, a great actor,” Amber told Access at the “3 Days to Kill” junket in Los Angeles. “He’s a great force to be reckoned with.”

The 27-year-old actress said she was grateful to have the opportunity to learn from such a seasoned, respected actor/director.

“I was surprised and really taken with what it was like to work with him because you learn so much,” she raved. “He’s also a filmmaker and there’s a different – there is something that changes when you work with an actor who also is a filmmaker. They approach it differently, they interact with you differently.”

Adding, “There’s a different kind of concern given to details that I think is overlooked unless you have directed a movie. I learned a lot from him.”

Amber plays a sexy FBI agent in the upcoming action thriller, and the cast spent many of their days filming shoot-em-up scenes on the streets of Paris.

“Paris is a central character in the movie. Paris is an important element,” she said. “Paris is rich and textured and beautiful and has so much history and depth to it that it kind of made for a really interesting backdrop, because I’m sliding off the hood of a car, shooting a gun and getting in crazy fight with these gangsters. And I’m jumping over bodies and shooting the bad guys and all this stuff.

“Then I look around and there’s the Arc de Triomphe right behind me and then there’s the Eiffel Tower, and I’m in a gun fight in the middle of these cobblestone streets,” she continued. “It’s just a really bizarre world sometimes!”

Catch Kevin, Amber and Hailee Steinfeld in “3 Days to Kill” – in theaters on February 21.
