“American Idol’s” final 4 took to the stage once again on Wednesday night (no one was sent home last week), and Access Hollywood caught up with the gals after to the show to find out how they felt about their performances.
Candice Glover – the golden girl for the evening – was happy with her performances and thrilled by the judges’ positive feedback.
“It felt really good — especially after coming from the Bottom 2 last week,” Candice said. “Last week felt horrible. I [have] never been in the Bottom 2 before. It does not feel good.
“So I know that I said, ‘OK, this week I’m coming out swinging. I’m not playing no games,’” she added. “I have to get everything together. So I’m just glad that they love my take on both songs.”
Kree Harrison, whose performance of “Stormy Weather” caused a tiff between Randy Jackson and guest mentor Harry Connick Jr. over which superstar’s version of the classic she should have performed – said she agreed with Randy’s opinion, but loves Harry.
“I definitely agree with Randy — at the end of the day, I’ve got to be Kree,” she said. “I love Harry, I think he’s so hilarious. We had so much fun with him and the fact that we are from the same part of the world, I love. He’s just good people and I’ve respected him — not just as a person, as an actor, but especially as a musician because he [performs] jazz standards — that’s my lane.”
Angie Miller defended her toned-down version of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” (which judge Nicki Minaj didn’t care for).
“It was meant to be a very unplugged, very acoustic version of the song,” she explained. “There wasn’t really like a big like, climax to it and that was on purpose. So, it kind of stinks that they didn’t like that and they wanted the climax.
“But I don’t think that every performance needs to have that big bang,” she added.
Amber Holcomb, whose performance of “My Funny Valentine” wowed the judges, said she feels confident heading into Thursday’s elimination round.
“Whatever happens, I feel like I will be OK,” she said. “’American Idol’ is a platform and it let America [see] who I am. So, I mean I [couldn’t] be happier with my position.”
