There may not be a superfinal in the works between the big three singing reality competitions on television, but apparently, there is love between “American Idol” and “The Voice.”
On Tuesday, as the “American Idol” live rounds began, the very first song performed by a contestant was none other than “Moves Like Jagger,” which of course hit the charts from “The Voice” coach Adam Levine and his band Maroon 5, and features a cameo from another “Voice” coach – Christina Aguilera.
It was Reed Grimm, who made an impression during Hollywood Week by performing behind a drum kit, who took on the number.
And he once again showed off his percussion skills, hitting the drums again during the “Idol” live show as he gave “Moves Like Jagger” a jazz flare the “AI” judges appreciated.
“I’m glad it was you that was bold enough to start off this great Season 1 tonight… Great choice,” “Idol” judge Randy Jackson said of the number. “It brought shades to us like Casey [Abrams] from last season.
“Very nice choice, man,” Randy added.
