‘American Idol’ Top 10 Revealed, Another Contender Sent Packing

“American Idol” revealed their Top 10 on Wednesday night, but naming the group that gets to go on tour meant the elimination of one contestant from the ranks.

Paige Miles, 24, from Cypress, Texas, got the bad news, but the singer took her elimination well.

“It was a rollercoaster of a lifetime… I had a blast,” Paige said after hearing the vote results. “I had a lot of health issues going on out here with the laryngitis and some fall backs and bad song choices and things like that, but I still had a blast and it was a great learning experience.”

Paige’s performance on Tuesday night of the Phil Collins hit “Against All Odds” was the reason for her departure, and on Wednesday, Randy said it was “probably the worst I ever heard.”

Because of the bad impression her performance left on the judges, the Texan singer wasn’t even given a chance to earn the judges’ save.

“Regardless of you singing, you’re gonna end up going home tonight,” judge Simon Cowell said before Paige took the mic to sing one last time – “All Right Now.” “It’s got to a point where it’s just not working. I don’t want to give you any false hope here, it’s the end.”

Making the tour group, but given a warning by their placement in the Bottom 3 were Tim Urban and Katie Stevens. Katie, however, was sent to safety shortly after she was put in the lower group.

Interestingly, Miley Cyrus, the week’s mentor, hit back at the judges’ criticisms of Tim from the previous evening. The pop star told show host Ryan Seacrest that she loved Tim’s on-stage moves, which included a stage slide during his version of Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”

“I thought the knee slide, personally, was awesome,” she said. “I loved the knee slide. I love a little Zac Efron, ‘High School Musical,’ ‘Hairspray’… I love it all, so I think he’s great. He’s on the way to a good thing.”

Next week, the “Idol’s” will be mentored by R&B superstar Usher.
