The family of “Modern Family” star Ariel Winter is shooting down allegations of abuse concerning the 14-year-old TV star.
On Tuesday, news broke that Winter’s mother, Chrisoula Workman, temporarily lost custody of the actress after claims of physically and emotionally abuse against her actress daughter.
Now, Workman is speaking out, telling People, “It’s all untrue, it’s all untrue.”
Winter’s 34-year-old sister, Shanelle – who filed a guardianship petition for the actress last month in Los Angeles court – was appointed as her temporary guardian. Shanelle does not have access to the actress’ income from her hit ABC series.
Additionally, Winter’s brother, Jimmy Workman, also denied the abuse claims.
“There is no truth to these allegations,” he told Us Weekly.“This is a mother who does everything for her kids… Chris misses Ariel and wants her to come home.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Chrisoula Workman was ordered to have no contact with her daughter until a November 20 hearing. She is accused of “ongoing physical abuse,” including slapping and hitting, along with name-calling and personal insults.
Additionally, an independent attorney has been appointed to oversee the teen star’s interests in the case.
On Tuesday, the Winter’s sister told Access Hollywood, “It is not appropriate for me to talk about this.”
When contacted by Access, ABC had no comment. Additionally, a rep for Winter was not available for comment.
The actress’ attorney and father were also unavailable for comment.
