Arrow: Stephen Amell Hints At Major DC Characters To Come – It’s ‘A Game Changer’

Fans of “Arrow” (The CW’s drama based on DC Comics’ Green Arrow) are in for an exciting ride when the show’s second season premieres in the fall, according to series star Stephen Amell.

Access Hollywood caught up with the actor at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, where we asked him which other characters from the DC universe will cross paths with The Emerald Archer in Season 2.

“[‘Arrow’ Executive Producer] Andrew Kreisberg sat me down and gave me the big pitch,” Stephen (who plays Oliver Queen/The Vigilante on the show) told Access, of what he’s learned regarding the producers’ Season 2 plans. “After I got the pitch, he went, ‘OK… here’s the game changer.’

“And the game changer is a game changer,” he added.

While the 32-year-old star was not able to reveal specifics for obvious reasons, he hinted at Starling City appearances by multiple well-known characters from the DC universe – something fans have been eagerly anticipating since the show’s inception.

“I can’t say [much], but it’s some things and some people that aren’t just familiar to DC Comic fans,” he told Access with a smile. “They’re like, more familiar than Green Arrow!”

The actor – who is expecting his first child with wife Cassandra Jean – also dished on how he plans to stay in shape for the role while fulfilling daddy duties.

“For the pilot I had a month-and-a-half to train… and in the pilot there was so much adrenaline and excitement that you can push yourself. Now, when you shoot nine-plus months, that’s a different animal,” he said. “So what I’m looking to do is to get to a level of physicality [heading] into Season 2 and then have a program that is specific to the episode that we’re shooting.”

Adding, “Then [we’ll] basically make a program and decide, OK, here’s where I’m gonna get my workouts, here’s where I’m gonna sleep, here’s where I’m gonna get up for midnight feedings!”
