Actress Ashley Judd and racecar driver Dario Franchitti have split.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed,” a spokesperson for the former couple told People on behalf of the stars, on Tuesday.
Ashley and Dario married in 2001.
In an interview with Redbook magazine in 2009, Ashley said the pair had a ritual of speaking to each other every night on the phone at 6 PM when they weren’t together.
“Dario and I do an appreciation every day. And I do them with my friends,” she said.
“We do it every day. It was a suggestion from a friend who does it with his wife. Sometimes it’s [she mimics gritting her teeth in annoyance and spits out], ‘I really appreciate…’ But that’s the point of the exercise — even when one is cross, to get some gratitude on board,” she added.
Dario won the Indy 500 in 2007.
