Avril Lavigne On How Being Married To Chad Kroeger Has Changed Their Studio Sessions

Avril Lavigne and Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger wrote two duets together – “Let Me Go,” which is on her self-titled new album, and a second track – “If I Said I Loved You,” the tune they danced to at their wedding.

The second cut isn’t out presently, but Avril is hoping to one day share it with her fans.

“Chad and I wrote that and recorded it together later on in our relationship,” Avril told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “[‘Let Me Go’] was the first song we wrote together and we weren’t even together at that stage, so our love song was our first song at the wedding and one day I’d like to release it, but our family all got to hear it so it was kind of nice.”

When the now-married couple first started working together writing music – and weren’t yet romantically involved – Avril found a musical kinship with Chad.

“When we first got together and we were recording, because he’s a singer, I actually really liked that as him being my producer,” she said. “So when he was recording my vocals, we spoke the same language, so he pushed me to do different takes, give different attitudes or whatever and just try more.”

Being husband and wife though, has made the recording process a little different.

“Now, I’m like, ‘No. Just two more takes, babe. Two more takes and I’m done.’ It’s more comfortable now, but it’s nice because we get to work together and spend more time together.”

Avril and Chad both have their careers taking priority right now, so there aren’t any plans to grow their family just yet.

“I have a tour coming up and my record just came out so I’m just working hard with my music and he is as well and I’d love to make a Christmas record for next year and my tour starts in February, so I’ve got a lot that I still need to do,” she said.
