Barbara Walters Admits She Forgot Barack Obama’s ‘View’ Appearance

Oprah has championed him for years and stars including Ben Affleck, Stevie Wonder, George Clooney and Will Smith have all become supporters, but when Senator Barack Obama, the Democractic Party’s Presidential nominee, first met Barbara Walters, she didn’t remember him.

On Wednesday night’s “The Daily Show,” Walters recounted to host Jon Stewart how following a brief encounter with Obama last year, she spoke to him, oblivious to the fact he once joined the ladies on “The View.”

”[Last] fall he was at a forum and he was being interviewed and when the interview was over, I went up and introduced myself and said, ‘You know Senator, we really would be so happy if you came on the ‘The View,’’ and he said, ‘I have been,’” Walters recounted. “I said, ‘I’m so sorry that I wasn’t there that day,’ and he said, ‘You were.’”

“It just didn’t pop for you?” Stewart asked the veteran journalist.

“Whatever charisma it was, I failed charisma,” Walters responded.

In related news, Obama’s wife, Michelle, will guest host “The View” on June 18.
