‘Baywatch’ Movie, ‘Private Benjamin’ Remake Heading For Theaters

“Baywatch” is back – and so is “Private Benjamin.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a big-screen version of the ‘90s lifeguard show, famous for its slow-motion shots of sexy stars such as Pamela Anderson running down the beach in a red bathing suit, is on the way.

Paramount has reportedly tapped screenwriters Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka to write the project, which slated for a summer 2011 release. The trade mag reported that the film looks to be “female-driven.”

Stars from the original series, which ran for 11 seasons, included David Hasselhoff, Yasmine Bleeth and Carmen Electra as well as Pam – who’s currently competing on “Dancing with the Stars.”

The trade also reported that New Line would remake the 1980 comedy “Private Benjamin” – which notched Oscar nominations for Goldie Hawn, Eileen Brennan and its screenplay.

“The House Bunny” star Anna Faris will reportedly take over Goldie’s role, that of a “spoiled woman” who enlists with the Army after her husband’s sudden death.
