Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ Is Back In Theaters Following The Musician’s Death

Twenty-two years after its release, Prince’s “Purple Rain” is back in theaters following the musician’s death.

AMC Theatres announced Friday that 87 of its U.S. theaters will play Prince’s 1984 cult classic film beginning Saturday and running through Thursday.

The film was an unlikely box office hit when it was first released, grossing $68.4 million. Its soundtrack went on to sell more than 25 million copies.

Prince was found dead Thursday at his suburban Minneapolis compound at age 57.
