Beyonce has spoken out regarding rumors the “Run the World” singer secretly used a surrogate to carry her first daughter with husband Jay-Z — baby Blue Ivy.
“That was crazy. It wasn’t hurtful, it was just crazy,” the superstar – named People’s 2012 Most Beautiful Woman – told the mag. “I thought] ‘Where did they come up with this?’”
Rumors began to swirl suggesting Beyonce was wearing a prosthetic baby bump to fake her own pregnancy after photos surfaced showing the 30-year-old singer sitting down during an interview, where her stomach area appeared to fold inward.
Speaking to People, Beyonce’s mother called the claims “stupid.”
“It was a fabric that folded — does fabric not fold?” Beyonce’s mom, Tina Knowles, told the mag. “Oh my gosh, so stupid.”
While Beyonce shook off the speculation, Tina was hurt and disturbed by the buzz surrounding her daughter’s first pregnancy.
“I thought it was very unfair and very cruel that someone would think that someone would be that diabolical to keep up a charade like that for nine months,” she said. ”As a mother it was painful for me to hear the crazy rumors. And I even had people ask me, which was so ridiculous.”
