James Cameron’s epic “Titanic” is set to return to theaters in April 6 – this time in 3-D – to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the tragic accident and Bill Paxton says he’s all for the film’s re-release.
“I think it’s great,” Bill, who starred as treasure hunter Brock Lovett in the ’97 blockbuster told Access Hollywood at the “Haywire” premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday. “I talked to [James] Cameron a few nights ago [and] he said they had screened 10 minutes of it at some symposium in Amsterdam and he said it was really amazing to see it.”
While Bill hasn’t himself seen in the 3-D version yet, he revealed he’s seen the actual wreckage at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean multiple times.
“I’ve been down to the wreck… four times,” he told Access. “I’ve seen it for real.”
Despite the fact that it’s been 15 years since “Titanic” originally hit theaters, Bill believes the movie will be a box office success yet again.
“There’s a whole new generation who is going to discover it and of course everybody’s going to go see it in 3-D,” he said.
As for Bill’s latest project, “Haywire,” the actor has high hopes for the Steven Soderbergh-helmed action thriller, which stars MMA fighter Gina Carano.
“I got to play her dad which was kind of cool,” he told Access of working with newcomer Gina. “There are a lot of great action female stars, but usually they have to cut them up to make them look like they’re really tough. This gal — Steven Soderbergh lets the camera sit back and lets the camera do its thing and… she’s an artist.”
“Haywire” hits theaters on January 20.
