Billy Joel: Alexa Ray ‘Is Going To Be Fine’ – Released From Hospital

Alexa Ray Joel “is going to be fine,” her famous father, Billy Joel, told Newsday on Saturday evening.

According to the New York Daily News, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter was released from St. Vincent’s Hospital on Saturday evening after being rushed in at around 12:30 PM.

“She is stable. Her doctors are assessing her needs. And that’s all we can say at this moment,” a rep for Alexa previously told Access Hollywood.

The Daily News further reported that police sources stated that Alexa, the daughter of Billy and Christie Brinkley, swallowed eight sleeping pills before the hospitalization.

However, according to sources close to Alexa who spoke to the Daily News and People, the singer had taken the homeopathic antihistamine Traumeel.

Authorities told the Daily News the apparent overdose was being considered a suicide attempt, with a police source stating that Alexa’s roommate had called 911 following the singer’s alleged drug ingestion.

“She said [Alexa] had taken pills and was feeling despondent,” the source told the newspaper. “She said she wasn’t feeling good about herself.”
