Billy Ray Cyrus On The Advice He Gave Miley & Liam

For weeks now, stories have been circulating that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s marriage plans are over.

On Wednesday, Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle sat down with Billy Ray Cyrus, who just penned a memoir, “Hillbilly Heart,” and she asked him about Miley and Liam.

“Have you pulled her aside, and said, ‘Damn it Miley! You are young, what are you gonna do?’ or are you guys like, ‘Nah, Do it!’?” Michelle asked.

“If you’ve read the book you’ll see this is what I say, this is the answer when they ask ‘Can we get married?’ or ‘We’re getting married.’… [I said], ‘Hey, here’s what I think: You guys take care of each other, be good to each other and remember that right now, you’re great friends. Don’t ever lose that. That’s the most important thing,’” Billy Ray recounted to Michelle.

“Now, as far as when they get married or if they get married, that’s not my ball game…. They’ll figure that out themselves,” Billy Ray added.

Billy Ray revealed Liam did actually ask his permission to marry Miley.

“He didn’t have to, but he did,” Billy Ray told Michelle. “He’s got a really sweet side to him and he came in. They had the big rock. They [were] all bashful about it and then said, ‘Hey, look at this.’ And Miley was showin’ that ring and Liam kind of [said] a little something to me — it was kind of the professional question and I jokingly [said], ‘Can I be in your brother’s next movie?’ And then I said, ‘No, I’m joking.’”

“That’s a good question,” Michelle laughed.

“It was a good question. He never did answer… I should have said next two movies! And get me in that film of his too,” Billy Ray joked.

“It’s like a dowry,” Michelle laughed.

“Right. I wish I could have re-answered that question,” Billy Ray said.

Billy Ray’s book, “Hillbilly Heart: A Memoir” was released on Tuesday.
